Can multiple antennas of jammers be combined?

  • 2022-08-10

Now there are many types of jammers on the market, no matter the power or the size of the device, there will be many antennas. Some customers will be very concerned about the number of antennas. Then the problem is, the number of jammers Can the antennas be combined?

Customers have such questions mainly because they want to consider the beauty of the equipment and the concealment when using it. Why do today's jammers need so many antennas? In fact, the number of antennas is in one-to-one correspondence with the number of signal interference modules. Today's jammers, if you need to completely interfere with all 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G and WiFi signals, will require at least 10 to 12 frequency bands according to the frequency band standards of various mobile phone systems, which means that you need to configure at least 10 to 12 frequency bands. There are 10-12 jamming modules covering these frequency bands, so the number of antennas is determined accordingly.

Would it be possible to combine these antennas to reduce the total number of antennas? In theory it is possible. And it's completely technically feasible. However, combining multiple antennas will produce some associated losses, such as:

Loss 1: It is necessary to combine the antennas of different frequency bands through a combiner. Adding a combiner will require a suitable installation space for the combiner, which increases the appearance size of the jammer;

Loss 2: From the RF output end of the jamming module in the jammer, through the combiner and then to the antenna end, there will be a certain signal attenuation in the middle connector or connecting cable. This will result in a lower effective power ultimately emitted from the antenna;

Loss 3: For the transmitting antenna used after the combination of multiple frequency bands, the standing wave frequency bandwidth it can support will increase a lot, and the increase in bandwidth will reduce the gain of the antenna, which will in turn reduce the effective transmit power of the jammer. Further decrease.

In view of the above, whether to combine the multiple antennas of the jammer is actually a matter of trade-off. If you want to maximize the interference effect of the jammer, then abandon the antenna combination scheme.
