Can signal jammers prevent tracking and positioning?
In order to prevent others from tracking or exposing their whereabouts, some customers order some common GPS signal jammers and install them in their cars. I believe that this can effectively prevent others from knowing my location. But sometimes I realize that my whereabouts are still firmly controlled by others, and I am puzzled. Why is this? Can using a signal jammer effectively solve this problem?
Before answering this question, we first need to know how others know our location or what these location signals are. Finally, we can effectively prevent based on this information. The reason why positioning equipment can achieve positioning function and send location information to remote receiving terminals will use at least two types of signals. The first type is GPS positioning signal, and civil positioning and navigation signals include GPS from the United States, as well as China's Beidou satellite signal, Russia's Gronas satellite navigation signal, Europe's Galileo satellite signal, and so on. The second type is data transmission signals, which usually use a built-in mobile phone SIM card to receive and send data using the 3G, 4G, or 5G network signals of the phone and the receiving end. At the same time, using a mobile SIM card can also achieve rough range non precise positioning, which is mainly achieved through mobile base stations. Compared to GPS positioning signals, its positioning accuracy is much lower.
On the other hand, in order to effectively prevent tracking and positioning of signal jammers, it is necessary to carefully check the specific technical indicators and functional parameters of the equipment when purchasing signal jammers. Some customers choose a signal jammer with only GPS in order to be cheap, ignoring the interference that should be aimed at both mobile positioning and data transmission signals. This is the real reason why some car mounted GPS signal jammers, even though they are constantly working, still cannot effectively prevent others from tracking and positioning.
Even if both of the above aspects are considered thoroughly, there is still an important thing that users must take seriously: if it is necessary to continuously prevent tracking and positioning throughout the entire process, it is necessary to ensure the continuous power supply and continuous switch operation of the signal jammer, and it cannot be turned off at any time period. Due to the continuous operation of the concealed positioning equipment installed in the vehicle, even a brief gap time may still cause leakage of positioning information once the signal jammer is unable to transmit interference signals due to abnormal power supply.
